WHAT IS THE SUMMER SCRIPT-READING SERIES?
It is the opposite of a polished production. Each week, we’re hosting a single read-through of a different script. Most people reading a role will be seeing the evening’s script for the very first time, and learning the characters on the fly. It’s going to be messy, creative, interesting and fun. There are no tickets and no admission charge. Our cash bar will be open.
WHY READ SCRIPTS?
Lots of reasons. Here are just a few:
- If you’re an actor or director, it’s an easy way to see which upcoming shows and roles interest you.
- If you’re getting started in acting, it’s a low-pressure way to try out playing a role.
- And if you’re happier offstage than onstage, you’re welcome to sit in the audience and just listen, and enjoy a fun evening with creative people who love theater.
WANT TO READ A ROLE?
If you want to read a role, you have 2 options:
- You can just show up. We’ll assign parts the night of the reading. Everyone who wants to read will be able to. We’ll have scripts for participants.
- If there’s a particular role you’re interested in, let us know. We’ll do our best to accommodate requests. Send an email to communications@kmplayhouse.com if you’d like to receive an advance pdf copy of the script, or to put your hat in the ring for a particular role.
Depending on the numbers, you may be asked to share a part, or to read multiple roles. Prefer not to read? No problem. You’re invited to come enjoy the reading from the audience.
